Control your sins

BismiLLAH hir rahmanir raheem!

“As human beings we all possess a sinful nature. But as a Muslim we have to strive to step away from our nature by walking in the light of Islam. If we are not careful to resist ourselves from sin, it will weaken our souls and separate us from our Almighty Allah. On the necessity of self control, Allah says:
And as for him who fears to stand in the presence of his lord forbids his own soul from its whims and caprices, then surely paradise is his abode”.
Consider these seven ways to control your sinful nature:

1. Know your enemy:

The most important strategy in warfare is to know the enemy. The more you know about your enemy the easier it makes your battle. Likewise, life is a battle against shaytan- The enemy of our souls- We need to study about him and his tactics he uses to lead people astray.

2. Always look to Allah for help:

Allah wants to help you and He is always with you. As Muslims we have direct access to Allah. When you wake up in the morning everyday ask Allah to protect you from evil temptations of this world. Make a habit to confess your sins and ask Allah for forgiveness before you go to bed.

3. Spend time with Allah:

A daily relationship with Allah is the basic principle to control our self from sins. Spend some time reading the Quran and indulging in Zikr. Make it a habit. It will help you to stay focused on Allah in your daily activities.

4. Avoid sinful situations:

A Muslim would be very careful to avoid sins and to avoid situations that are likely to cause sin. Sins often comes searching for you, so if you find yourself in a certain situation that you are more likely to fall in sin; it’s the time for you to walk away from that place.

5. Know the consequences:

Sin is a wall that separates us from Allah and it can enslave us and destroy our whole life. Countless lives have been ruined today because of pursuing things that Allah has forbidden. Remember that Allah has blessed with us with a healthy body and a sound mind, as a result being ungrateful for his gifts will draw severe punishments.

6. Fill your mind with Allah:

Thinking about something often can bring it to life; therefore avoid thinking about things that would arise evil temptations in your mind. Try to fill your mind with the remembrance of Allah.

7. Repent immediately when you fail:

If you fail and fall into sin, repent immediately. You should regret it and be determined never to indulge in any sinful behavior in the future.

Let’s practice to try to control our sins in sha Allah

Task#9 Thinking well of ALLAH

Assalam o Alikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

After thinking and thinking that what should be the next week task, i realized that the thing we need the most today is husnuz zn with ALLAH. Everyone of us thinks that we are passing through hard calamities and at times we loose faith , we loose sabar.  What we really need to create within us is the thinking that thinks well of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala, and creating the belief that He can actually give us relief.  Once a person has a thinking developed about the powers and love of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala , things become easy for him, and every calamity that befalls on him, becomes easy to face.

Having ALLAH beside you doesn’t mean that you will not face storms, it only means that no storm can sink your boat now.

This week we’l in sha ALLAH try to develop a thinking of huznuz zn with ALLAH, and this firm belief that ALLAH has power over all things.

A lecture of a sheikh once touched my heart deeply and i would like to share with you that lecture’s transcript. (we shared it a long time ago once)

“Sometimes what we wish for seems far away or were faced with what we fear, Only then the reality of being attached to ALLAH subhanahu wa taala is revealed. Some people leave off dua thinking that their request will never be fulfilled, or they leave off dua thinking that their affliction or hardship will not be taken away. But who still keeps supplicating? It is the one who thinks well of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala!. What does thinking well of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala means? It’s not what may be initially understood; which is that ALLAH is merciful and that’s it!  This is not enough. Thinking well of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala is firstly knowing that ALLAH is able to do all things, and then to know that ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala is the Most Merciful. So first you have to know that ALLAH is able (to do all things). Because during a hardship anyone who sees you will have mercy on you, So the issue here is not mercy, the issue is that this person cannot help you or alleviate your affliction. The key to thinking well of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala is to know that nothing can stop ALLAH from doing what He wishes be it in this earth or the Heavens! For one to have this truth firm in his heart… this cannot be read in books or taught in universities nor it is given in lectures.

(Or like the one who passed by a town while it had tumbled over its roofs,

He said: “Oh! How will ALLAH ever bring it to life after its death?” So ALLAH caused him to die for a hundred years , then raised him up (again). He said: “How long did you remain (dead)?”. He (the man) said: “i remained (dead) a day or part of the day.” He said: “nay! you have remained (dead) for a hundred years , look at your food and your drink …they show no change; and look at your donkey. And thus we have made of you a sign for the people. Look at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh.”

When this was clearly shown to him,he said: “i know (now) that ALLAH is able to do all things.” (2:259)

This is the greatest key to being a true slave of ALLAH… to know that ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala is able to do all things!

If this certainty is firm in the heart… who amongst the creation will you worry about asking or will you stand in front of to beg for His help? There is nobody (who can help).

If you are sure and certain that only ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala is able to do all things, only then , when your wishes and aspirations seem far away and you are faced with problems you will know that ALLAH is able to remove your afflictions and complete His favor on you and bestow His blessing on you.”

SAP is Back :)

Assalam o Alikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu!

Hmmm well! SAP was off for more than two weeks, and none of you bothered to ask why? :@

I would like to remind you all, that we started SAP, with the aim to change ourselves , to work on our inner self individually. And for this purpose we wanted to create an environment so that we keep uplifting our Eman when it gets down.

All of you who joined SAP, had the same intention, and there was a zeal to change. But for some reasons, you felt it once not working, you missed a task, and you gave up.

We are all believers Alhumdulillah, and the condition of believers are strange at times.

Sometimes you feel your Emaan so high and sometimes it’s very low. Does it happen with others too?

Read and Ponder on the following para.

”  often we find ourselves in a state of fluctuating Iman, sometimes it’s very high sometimes we feel we have hit rock bottom. The qalb (Heart) changes frequently the Prophet Muhammad SAW said: ” The heart of the son of Adam changes more quickly than a pan of rapid boiling water”

In another report he SAW said: “The likeness of the heart is that of a feather in an empty plot of land, being blown over and over by the wind”.

This instability of the heart leads to the increase and decrease of iman, it is natural to have these ups and downs. In another beautiful narration Prophet Muhammad SAW said: ”there is no heart that is not covered by a cloud like the cloud covering the moon when it is shining, and so it suddenly goes dark, but when it(the cloud) goes away, it shines again” this comparison subhan’Allah , is exactly what our heart is like. We may have a state of darkness, as a result of falling into sin and so forth causing  a covering over the heart, until one  makes an effort to  change for the good, this veil is removed allowing for light to enter the heart rejuvenating the iman.

Iman is constantly changing like the heart it increases with obedience to Allah and decreases with disobedience “….Which of you has had his iman increase by it?” (9:124) Your iman increases or decreases from the state that which it is currently in.

A believer must check his/her heart, seek purification of it if one doesn’t do so they can fall into great error they begin to feel hardening of the heart, no love or fear of Allah. This sickness weakens the iman, one must try to leave what bad they are committing make tawbah and implement good deeds and acts of worship. Purify your intentions when doing so to insure it’s for the sake and pleasure of Allah SWT making your iman increase and inshaAllah safeguard it from falling back into sin. Just like a roller coaster you have never road before the heart and iman go up and down sideways and upside-down being aware of our actions, being sincere in our Ibadah and actions purifying your heart. Doing so Be’ithnillah your Iman increases from the state it is in now.

May Allah increase our iman when we have fallen into weakness, keep our heart in the state of purification, safeguard our deen. Ameen

                                                                                                                        -Amaturahman Umm Sufyan”

Hmm now come back to the interesting thing, why was SAP stopped? It was stopped because the admin for SAP was unfortunately a human 🙂 ,  and we were unable to find an angel to work for us,  so obviously she had the downs in Emaan too.

Do forgiver her for that, and come back to the routine now. 🙂

As we’r going to restart SAP, it’s better that we all once look for all the past tasks, and implement them all at once now. Search for the task you did not follow, and follow that.

Remember we stated, one week doesn’t mean,  chutti after that . It means make a habit with that one week, and keep that habit grow stronger and stronger.

So now everybody out there, who is interested to join us in this continuity of SAP, can let us know with your emails, or in the discussion form below.

Let’s try raising our Emaan, May ALLAH subhanahu ta’ala forgive all our major and minor sins, and accept the tiny tiny efforts.

It’s a self assessment week itself, look inside, understand what spiritual condition you are in, and make your own assessment about what is your report about yourself, how much did you change, and how much did you try to change.

Will you Friendship??? :( (Task#8)

Assalam o Alikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

You have a good relationship with your neighbors , you go twice thrice to their home daily to give something or to bring something. Sometimes  just for a chit chat you spend hours there. The more time you spend with them the more you come to know about them, i.e how do they live, what they eat, what ethical values do they follow, which t.v channel do they like, who is their favorite actor/actress , how liberal are they, what hobbies they have, what time they sleep and a long long list of things are there which you come to know because of this close relationship. Many of these things even their relatives may not be aware of, which you know. Why??? Because you are close to them . And closeness brings knowingness, the more close you go, the more you come to know.

Now if these close neighbors  leave for somewhere else, this thing make you deeply sad. It creates a huge space. Because you have a close relation with them. And their departure is unbearable for you.

On the contrary if your neighbors are “just” neighbors to you. You don’t visit them but only in case of funerals or wedding ceremonies, then they are just equal to strangers to you even living one next door.

If anytime they leave the house, their departure will not effect you, you will never feel their absence.

Quran is just similar, it is your neighbor living in your shelf. Now the more you visit it, the more deeply you’l come to know about it. , and you will feel hollowness inside whenever you’l be unable to find a copy of Quran. It will become your life, your day and night , your best friend , you’l go to it in every bad and sad. , you’l have it close to your heart , and it’s departure???  Naaa you can never think of it.

It depends of you now what kind of relationship would you like to create with your neighbor Quran. If you open it just to read on funerals, just on fridays or just to keep over a bride’s head as a bid’ah and a custom, forget that you’l receive it’s blessings.

Look! whenever you sent something to your neighbors , say sweet dish, of some gift., they surely return back something. Then how did you think that you will give Quran your time, and will not receive blessings in return?

Quran is that neighbor which is going to be there always till Qyamah, but you??? . . . .  . . . . . . . .  You may have to LEAVE for you new home (grave) anytime.

So before this departure come. Hug it, and friendship today with Quran. 🙂

In sha ALLAH this week our task is to make habit of reading the Quran daily, with understanding, even if one verse.

So let’s start our true friendship with Quran from today.

May ALLAH give us taofeeq to read , and read with understanding.  In sha ALLAH.

So how many of you are ready for a true friendship ?????

Let’s Stitch Our Mouth (Task#7)

And why did you not, when you heard it, say? “It is not right of us to speak of this: Glory to God, this is a most serious slander” (Quran 24:16)

A commentary on one of the most destructive of major sins

Islam is a religion of peace, love and compassion. Lies, suspicion, back biting, slander and gossip are totally alien to Islam. In fact they are considered amongst the most destructive of major sins. This is so because these sins sow enmity and discord among the Muslim Ummah and lead to its destruction. They cause hostilities between people of the same household, and between neighbors, friends and relatives.

Islam demands that our relationship with mankind should be one of sincerity and responsibility. It should be one where we have respect for the honor, reputation and privacy of others. Islam teaches us that we are not only held accountable for our own attitudes and actions but also for anything else over which we have control or influence over, in our society or the world around us.

Let’s see what the Quran states about backbiting and slander – This is the Book, in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear God. (2:2)

God has forbidden the believers from backbiting

O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion, in deeds some suspicions are sins. And spy not neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear God, verily, God is the one who accepts repentance, Most Merciful. (49: 12)

When we reflect deeply over this assimilation it should be enough to keep us away from backbiting!

How would i exactly know what backbiting is?

The definition of Backbiting & Slander

Prophet Muhammad  said :”Do you know what backbiting is?” They said, “God and His Messenger know best.” He then said, “It is to say something about your brother that he would dislike.” Someone asked him, “But what if what I say is true?” The Messenger of God  said, “If what you say about him is true, you are backbiting him, but if it is not true then you have slandered him.” (Muslim)

We need to beware of the slipping of our tongues

“When man wakes up in the morning each day, all parts of the body warn the tongue saying, ‘Fear God as regards us for we are at your mercy; if you are upright, we will be upright and if you are crooked, we become crooked.’” (At-Tirmidhee)

We ask God the Most High, the All Powerful, to teach us that which will benefit us, and to benefit us by that which we learn. May God grant blessings and peace to our Prophet Muhammad  and his family and companions.

Let’s stitch our mouth whenever it tries to backbite someone.

Join us by using comment section.  So let’s change the world with piety.
